Unboxing April's Loot Crate: Quest

This month's Loot Crate theme was "Quest." When they revealed the theme and what franchises would be included (Labyrinth, Vikings, Harry Potter, and Uncharted) I immediately knew that this box wasn't going to be for me. I've never seen Vikings, but I do like the other franchises. But going by other subscription boxes with the same theme, I have not had much luck. This one was no exception.

The first item in the box was an exclusive Labyrinth T-Shirt. I dig the movie and the picture looks awesome, but for some reason it doesn't work for me on a T-Shirt. I would have loved to have had it as a poster instead. The other clothing item in the box was a pair of Harry Potter socks featuring Voldemort's Horcruxes.

Next up was an exclusive Vikings drinking horn. It's a great looking piece, but it's not anything I'll ever actually use. Also inside were an Uncharted 4 poster, a D20 ice mold, and a "Quest" pin. I've loved the last few Loot Crate boxes, but this one just didn't do it for me. I think the items inside far exceed the price of the box, but none of it was anything I really took to. Fortunately, I've got friends who will love them.

Inside this month's box:

-Harry Potter Socks (Hyp Hosiery)
-Labyrinth T-Shirt (Ripple Junction)
-D20 Ice Mold (Loot Crate Labs)
-Uncharted 4 Poster (Sony PlayStation)
-Quest Pin (Loot Crate Labs)
-Vikings Drinking Horn (Chronicle Collectibles)

Box opens up into a maze!

Unboxing April's Marvel Collector Corps: Captain America- Civil War

Timed to coincide with the release of Captain America- Civil War, April's Marvel Collector Corps pulls no punches in what could be their best box yet. The package arrived at my doorstep and man, was it was big. It was easily the biggest box they've shipped to date and it was full of Marvel goodness!

As soon as you open the box, the first thing you see under the lid are pictures of Team Cap and Team Stark and you just know this box is going to be awesome. The first items you get to are a Black Panther pin and Crossbones patch. The next two items in the box were an Iron Man/Cap lanyard to be used as "a home for all your pins" and a Black Panther #1 comic with a variant cover.

Every box comes with an exclusive POP! t-shirt, and this month's was pretty epic. It features POP! versions of Team Cap and Team Stark. For those who have never purchased a POP! tee, here's an FYI- they run big. So, if you're like me and normally get a large sized shirt, definitely go for the medium. I'm DEFINITELY going to be wearing this one to the movie (#TeamCap)!

The Civil War box gave us THREE Funko vinyl figures in this month! The first was an Unmasked Iron Man Dorbz, which was "originally planned as a chase variant for the Civil War line." I'm not a huge Dorbz fan, but I have to admit that it's a pretty slick looking figure. Finally, we got an awesome Captain America/Iron Man POP! 2-pack. Iron Man is flying, ready to fire his repulsor blast, while Cap is in an action-ready pose, ready to block an attack by Iron Man.

Even though it seems like an obvious choice, the box was originally supposed to feature a "Falcon Captain America POP! as well as introduce a new line from Funko!" I have to admit, knowing this is kind of a bummer as I'd love to have a Falcon Cap POP! This box is one of their best so far and I cannot wait to see if they can top it with their upcoming "Women of Power" box in June.

Inside this month's box:

-Civil War T-Shirt
-Iron Man Unmasked Dorbz
-Black Panther #1 Variant
-Crossbones Patch
-Black Panther Pin
-Civil War Lanyard
-Captain America/Iron Man POP! 2-Pack

Target is the Place for Captain America: Civil War Exclusives

Marvel recently dropped THAT Captain America- Civil War trailer (you know the one) and it was a doozy! Not only did it give us more Black Panther goodness, but it also gave us our first glimpse of the debut of the MCU's version of Spider-Man (!!!!). The hype train is moving full steam ahead and merchandise is hitting shelves in abundance. Target is currently carrying a few awesome Captain America: Civil War exclusives in their toy section.

They have a not one, but TWO 12" figure sets available; one for Team Cap and one for Team Stark. They are all part of the basic 12" line of budget figures, with some looking better than others. The sculpts in this line are hit and miss in terms of quality. The Team Stark pack, including Black Widow, Black Panther, War Machine, Iron Man, and Vision is a really great looking set. Black Widow, War Machine, and Black Panther look pretty darn good. The Team Cap, featuring Cap, Falcon, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, and Winter Soldier, not so much. The faces on Hawkeye and Ant-Man look...off. For $44.99, the price is right if you're looking to collect them all and save a few bucks.

Also available is an exclusive 2.5" "Miniverse" figure pack. The figures include Captain America, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Black Widow, Black Panther, Vision, Winter Soldier, Falcon, and War Machine. For their size, the sculpts aren't half bad, though the figures are a bit small for my taste. It would have been nice to have seen a Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man included in the set. Also on shelves are a pair of Iron Man "Arc FX Armor Gloves." They are motion-activated and also have lights and sounds. Unfortunately, these are made for smaller hands, so my dreams of becoming a "Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" have been dashed by my man hands. All these exclusives can be found now at your local Target stores.

Images from Silicon Valley Comic Con

Attending Silicon Valley Comic Con all three days, I saw a ton of cool things. There were comics, collectibles, and cosplay galore on display at the brand new convention. Because there was so much to see and do, I'm still coming across images of things I totally missed. Below are some of the cooler things I did see at the con.
