Before Watchmen's Amanda Conner Joins Long Beach Comic Con

Amanda Conner, whose artwork for Before Watchmen is adding a new layer to the Wacthmen mythos, will be appearing at The Long Beach Comic & Horror Con scheduled for November 3-4 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Conner is best known for her stylistic renderings of major female characters, including Lois Lane, Wonder Woman, Painkiller Jane and Power Girl, the popular series which gained momentum after DC’s game-changing Infinite Crisis story arc. She is currently the lead artist and co writer with Darwyn Cooke on Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre, the controversial new set of stories that depict the Watchmen heroes in their prime, before the events of Alan Moore’s Watchmen.

She will be on-hand to meet with fans, share artwork from her classic and current projects, and talk about her future projects.

The convention floor hours are 10:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday November 3 and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday November 4.

Build Your Own MG Wild Tiger Model

When Tiger & Bunny came out I got into it in a big bad way. So when I learned that the Wild Tiger model kit was up for pre-order (for a reasonable $40-something bucks) I went directly to Otacute and put down for it without hesitation. For those that have never pre-ordered anything from Japan just a note: shipping can be pretty pricey. All told, the total with shipping came out to about $65.00 but it was worth every penny.

As soon as I received the package I ripped into it like a mad man. When I looked at all of the parts my first thought was, "Holy shit, I can't do this." The literally hundreds of little plastic pieces were quite intimidating. My history with building models is virtually non-existent. It never interested me as a kid. Heck, I wasn't even really into Lego's, so this was going to be a real challenge. The gauntlet had been thrown and I was gonna finish it come hell or high water. For that price-point I wasn't going to just let it sit in the box.
So. Many. Pieces.
The instructions, being in Japanese, were impossible for me to read. Thankfully the pictures made it easy to follow. Each piece had to be carefully cut from their frame and snapped together. After that was done, the decals had to be applied. All told it took me seven hours over two days to put this guy together. The kit comes with a selection of hands that you can build for specific looks. You also have the option of displaying Wild Tiger with his mask on or raised. Changing between the two will only take a couple of minutes.

Once done, this model is a beauty. All of the tedious work is worth it. The level of detail on this guy is amazing and I'm definitely going to be pre-ordering the Bunny model kit as soon as it goes live. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to the daunting task of putting together another model kit, but when the result is this awesome, how could  I not?

The detail is impressive
