Alien day is coming April 26th! What better way to celebrate than getting your hands on a pair of 40th anniversary Reebok Alien Stompers. The shoes, which go live on Thursday, April 26th at 9 p.m., can be found on their website. They run $125.00 and unfortunately some of us are going to be in a theater watching Avengers: Endgame at that time. Hopefully I'll be able to snag a pair as soon as the movie is over. Will you be getting a pair? Description via Reebok: Inspired by sketches and memoirs from Ridley Scott and artist Ron Cobb, this Alien Stomper pays homage to the prototypes and original concepts from the classic film. The logos and designs featured on this new shoe reflect logo concepts never used in the original release of Alien, all created by the movie's design team leading up to its 1979 debut. Premium aged leather and a vintage effect allude to a prototype that's been discovered 40 years later, and the vintage box and certifice provide authenticity.
BOOM! Studios has announced THE MAN WHO CAME DOWN THE ATTIC STAIRS, a new original graphic novel inspired by the works of Shirley Jackson and Ira Levin, in which acclaimed comics creator Celine Loup weaves a tale of horror and suspense that captures the isolation of postpartum depression, while exploring the very real fears associated with new motherhood. Arriving in stores September 2019. Emma is excited to start a family in her new home, but after her child’s birth she finds her world turning upside-down. The infant cries like it’s scared of something, or someone, and Emma’s sleepless nights quickly drive a wedge between her and her husband, who seems uncharacteristically detached. When Emma begins to see strange things in the house, the line between reality and fantasy blurs and her grasp of what’s real and what’s not becomes even more clouded. Is something unnatural haunting the nursery? And what if it also affected her husband, who ventured up into the attic when they first arrived… Celine Loup is an illustrator and Ignatz Award-nominated cartoonist who currently lives in France. She has done illustration work for The New York Times, The New Yorker, The A.V. Club, Variety, Lucky Peach, and Medium. Loup is the acclaimed creator of popular comics such as Honey and Mother, as well as her current ongoing series, Hestia. Her work has garnered an Ignatz Awards nomination, recognition on the Best American Comics "Notable Books" list, and acclaim from American Illustration, The Society of Illustrators, and CMYK. "I wanted to tell a story about a fear that women dare not speak aloud, not even to themselves, often until after it's too late. Motherhood brings so much joy to the women who experience it, but for many it can feel like a prison, and no one can be certain until they've crossed a point of no return how it will be for them.” said creator, Celine Loup. “Horror's greatest potential is the gift of empathy, and I hope THE MAN WHO CAME DOWN THE ATTIC STAIRS will create a space in which we can reach out to each other in times of personal crisis without fear of judgement." THE MAN WHO CAME DOWN THE ATTIC STAIRS is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ ambitious Archaia imprint, home to graphic novels such as Mouse Guard by David Petersen; New World by David Jesus Vignolli; Jane by Aline Brosh McKenna and Ramón Pérez; About Betty’s Boob by Vero Cazot and Julie Rocheleau; Bolivar by Sean Rubin; and licensed series including Lev Grossman’s The Magicians: Alice’s Story by Lilah Sturges and Pius Bak; Jim Henson’s The Power of the Dark Crystal and Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Coronation. “Celine’s work oozes with emotion. With a single look her characters reveal their humanity or, perhaps in this case, lack thereof,” said Sierra Hahn, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Like the very best horror films, THE MAN WHO CAME DOWN THE ATTIC STAIRS conjures from its audience sincere empathy for its protagonist and a deep sense of unease for what lives within the shadows . . .” Print copies of THE MAN WHO CAME DOWN THE ATTIC STAIRS will be available for sale September 18, 2019 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one), September 24, 2019 at bookstores, or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app
BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at BURY THE LEDE, a new original graphic novel from New York Times bestselling author Gaby Dunn (Bad with Money, I Hate Everyone But You) and artist Claire Roe (Batgirl and The Birds of Prey), with colors by Miquel Rodriguez, which arrives in stores October 2019. Inspired by Dunn’s own experiences as a young reporter at The Boston Globe, BURY THE LEDE is a thrilling story about a young reporter’s search for truth leading her down a dark path while she goes toe-to-toe with a potential killer. Cub reporter Madison Jackson is young, scrappy, and hungry to prove that she deserves her coveted college internship at the premier newspaper in town, The Boston Lede, where she dreams of a career-making headline. So when her police scanner mentions a brutal murder tied to a prominent Boston family, Madison races to the crime scene, looking for the scoop of the century. What she finds instead is the woman who'll change her life forever: Dahlia Kennedy, a celebrity socialite covered in blood and the prime suspect in the murder of her husband and child. When Madison is the only person Dahlia will speak to, everything rides on the untested shoulders of this young journalist who sinks ever deeper into the dark, twisted landscape of the city’s hidden circles of crime, corruption, and privilege in order to unveil the truth. Dunn has distinguished herself as a New York Times bestselling author, journalist, YouTuber, actress, comedian and television writer. She and her comedy partner, Allison Raskin, created the successful YouTube channel Just Between Us along with the novel “I Hate Everyone But You,” published under Wednesday Books’ inaugural list, an imprint of St. Martin’s Press, with a sequel to be published in 2019. She has written for The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, New York Magazine, The Boston Globe, and Vulture, as well as a finance column for Marie Claire. Dunn served as a writer on "Big Mouth” (Netflix) and in 2016, co-created and starred in a pilot for MTV, later developing original half-hour pilots for Netflix, 20th Century Fox, YouTube Originals, and FX, as well as joining the cast of “Take My Wife” (Starz) in the role of Brie. She is also the host and creator of the podcast, Bad With Money With Gaby Dunn, which has been featured as one of the “Best New Podcasts of 2016” by The New York Times and Vulture. The show is entering its 4th season and a book based on the podcast was published by Simon & Schuster on January 1st, 2019. BURY THE LEDE is Dunn’s graphic fiction debut release. Claire Roe is an acclaimed artist from the east of Scotland and studied animation at Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art, graduating in 2013. She has distinguished herself with dynamic work on some of the biggest properties in comics, including Wonder Woman and Batgirl and The Birds of Prey from DC Comics, Halo: Rise of Atriox from Dark Horse, The Wicked + The Divine from Image Comics, and Welcome Back from BOOM! Studios. “BURY THE LEDE is an incisive and insightful psychological thriller where the relationship between the two female protagonists–a journalist and a murder suspect–is fraught with lies and complicated truths from the very beginning,” said Dafna Pleban, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Gaby’s writing, based on her own experiences as a cub reporter, along with Claire and Miquel’s moody noir art are the perfect elements for a story that delves into the importance of truth versus performance in the world around us.” BURY THE LEDE is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including Abbott from Saladin Ahmed and Sami Kivelä; Bone Parish from Cullen Bunn and Jonas Scharf; Grass Kings from Matt Kindt and Tyler Jenkins; and Klaus from Grant Morrison and Dan Mora. Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.
