BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands Debut Second Ongoing Power Rangers Series
BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands announce SABAN’S GO GO POWER RANGERS, an all-new ongoing comic book series that will debut in July 2017 and is based on the original, hit TV series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.” The series will explore the transition of the original five Rangers from ordinary high schoolers to world-saving superheroes. Ryan Parrott (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy) returns to BOOM! Studios and the Power Rangers franchise after his work on the sold-out, original graphic novel, Power Rangers: Aftershock, which followed the release of the 2017 feature film, “Saban’s Power Rangers.” Parrott is teaming with Russ Manning Award-winning artist Dan Mora (WWE, Klaus).
Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is set after the first episode of “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and centers around Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini, and Billy as they navigate high school, just days after receiving their superhero abilities. The story delves into their lives of saving the world while juggling history tests, dating and after-school jobs.
“It's hard enough being a teenager and juggling relationships, school, and family—I can't even imagine throwing in protecting the world,” says Parrott. “The goal of Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is to focus on more personal, intimate character stories. We dive deeper to fully examine the wish-fulfilling, awesomeness of having superpowers, along with the pressure of that responsibility.”
Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers will be the second ongoing Power Rangers comic book series launched and follows the record-breaking debut of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from BOOM! Studios in January 2016, which sold over 1 million copies in its first year.
After the hit series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” launched in 1993, Saban’s “Power Rangers” quickly became the most-watched children’s television programs and is one of the longest-running kids action series in television history. Currently the series is in its 24th season with “Power Rangers Ninja Steel” airing on Nickelodeon and rolling out globally throughout the year.
“The ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ was one of my first exposures to the superhero genre, and a big part of the appeal was the lives of these characters when they weren’t saving the world,” says Dafna Pleban, Editor. “Ryan [Parrott] and Dan [Mora] are incredibly adept at capturing both the awesome cosmic action of being a Ranger, and the emotional reality of being a teen at the same time.”
“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was the ultimate TV show. It had dinosaurs, cool heroes with amazing suits, and giant Zords. What's not to like?” says Mora. “I can't wait for the moment to travel back in time and tell my younger self what I’m doing. I'm sure he will be proud of me!”
Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to a world-class group of licensed comic book series and ambitious original series, including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, WWE, Planet of the Apes, Victor LaValle’s Destroyer, Godshaper, Grass Kings, and Klaus.

Coheed and Cambria's Claudio Sanchez is Taking His Book on the Road
BOOM! Studios is excited to announce that the long-awaited next installment in The Amory Wars series, THE AMORY WARS: GOOD APOLLO, I’M BURNING STAR IV, is going on a signing tour. Series creator and Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez is no stranger to the road, and will be taking the time to stop at local comic book shops across the country as Coheed and Cambria embark on a new concert tour to revisit their third album, Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. The new comic series follows the subject matter of the album.
The Amory Wars: Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV is the latest chapter in the The New York Times best-selling series, The Amory Wars. Claudio Sanchez and Chondra Echert (Translucid) team up with best-selling artist Rags Morales (Identity Crisis, Action Comics) to bring this sci-fi story to life. The 12-issue series launched on April 5, 2017 and is available monthly at comic book stores or digitally on your favorite device through ComiXology and the BOOM! Studios app. (To find your nearest comic book store, visit comicshoplocator.com.)
In this continuation of The Amory Wars saga, the evil Wilhelm Ryan remains in power. All those around Claudio Kilgannon are now convinced he is The Crowing, but is he? BOOM! Studios Announces 'Mouse Guard Alphabet Book'
BOOM! STUDIOS ANNOUNCES THE MOUSE GUARD ALPHABET BOOK
David Petersen Teams with Illustrator Serena Malyon to Teach the ABCs Through the World of Mouse Guard
BOOM! Studios is proud to announce the MOUSE GUARD ALPHABET BOOK, a new all-ages hardcover publication from Mouse Guard creator David Petersen and illustrator Serena Malyon set to debut in September.
Learn the ABCs in the world of David Petersen’s Mouse Guard where brave mice protect one another from predators large and small, explore the expansive nature around them, and thrive in harsh conditions. Hand-painted by Malyon (Magic in the City, Button Hill), this is a look into a beautiful world with rich culture and stalwart friendships, worth exploring one letter at a time.
"The idea for the alphabet book came from my wife, Julia," Petersen explains. "There were a few Mouse Guard projects she’d been suggesting for years that I brushed off in favor of more Legends of the Guard. One was last year’s coloring book, and once that was rolling I gave an alphabet book more consideration. After all, Mouse Guard has been around long enough that early fans are now having children. But we’d come to the realization that, artistically and production-wise, we couldn't entertain the idea if I had to illustrate all of it.
"I like having the different art styles in Legends of the Guard with my work as a visual anchor, but for an alphabet book, it made much more sense for one strong artistic voice. Serena is certainly that voice."
"Working on this book was a dream come true," enthuses Malyon. "Mouse Guard was the first graphic novel I ever picked up. I was enchanted by the way it was drawn, I was captivated by the subject matter, and it had a world that I wanted to explore. It’s a comic I’ve been inspired by for years, and I couldn’t believe it when David and BOOM! Studios got in touch with me. Getting to work with David directly on a Mouse Guard book was an incredible experience. He gave me a lot of freedom with what I painted and how I depicted the world, so I’m really excited to share my vision of Mouse Guard."

Unboxing March's Loot Crate: Primal
Things got "Primal" in this March's Loot Crate. Looter's were treated to a host of exclusive collectibles from comics, video games, and film. The franchises included were from some of the biggest ever- Jurassic Park, Overwatch, Predator, and X-Men. I went wild for this month's crate and every item fit into the theme perfectly!
The first item you notice upon opening the box was the exclusive die-cast metal figure from Jada Toys- Logan. There were three possible figures fir this crate- Logan, Old Man Logan, and Raw Adamantium Logan. Having recently seen the 'Logan' film, I would have preferred the Old Man Logan version, but hey, I'm not gonna complain. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of this line, but it is a cool figure and I'm stoked on it.
Next up was an exclusive Overwatch T-shirt featuring Winston's 'Primal Rage' spray. Having never played the game, I'm not familiar with it. Nonetheless, the shirt looks pretty damn cool. The next two item in the box was the monthly pin, which features a claw slashing through a happy face. The pin also unlocks issues #1 & 2 of Valiant's 'Savage' via Comixology.
The fifth item inside was a Jungle Hunter Predator bottle opener (this one was really awesome!). There were two possible variants for this one- Jungle Hunter (Predator) and Gort (Predator 2). The final, and possibly best item in this month's crate was a tin sign from Jurassic World. The warning sign features a velociraptor silhouette and also comes with zip ties for mounting.
Inside this month's crate:
- Logan Metal Figure (Jada Toys)
- Overwatch Winston Primal Rage T-shirt (Loot Crate)
- Savage #'s 1 & 2 (Valiant, Comixology)
- Jurassic World Warning Sign (Factory Entertainment)
- Predator Bottle Opener (Loot Crate)
- Primal Pin (Loot Crate)
