Future of the Time Force Revealed in New Original Graphic Novel POWER RANGERS: SINS OF THE FUTURE

BOOM! Studios, under license by Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), today announced an original graphic novel POWER RANGERS: SINS OF THE FUTURE, with story by Trey Moore (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), written by Matthew Erman (Bonding), illustrated by Giuseppe Cafaro (Saban’s Power Rangers: Soul of The Dragon), and lettered by Ed Dukeshire. This all-new graphic novel, available in October 2020, features two of the most popular Rangers of all time and what happens to them after the events of the hit Power Rangers: Time Force television series!  

After defeating the villainous Ransik alongside their allies in the time-traveling Time Force, Pink Ranger Jen Scotts and Red Ranger Wes Collins want to try for a real relationship. But without sacrificing their commitments to the Silver Guardians and Time Force, can the two actually make the ultimate long-distance relationship work?   

When Jen returns from the future, she and Wes are attacked by a mysterious stranger who has dire news - if these two stay together, they’ll disrupt the timeline and change the destiny of humanity! The shocking identity of their accuser sets them on a collision course with an enemy they never expected.   

Matthew Erman is a comics writer from Columbus, Ohio. Alongside Lisa Sterle, he co-created the critically acclaimed comic horror series, Long Lost, which was optioned for Film/TV by Producer Jenny Klein (The Witcher, Daisy Jones and The Six). Since then, he's worked with IDW on a new Care Bears: Unlock the Magic series as well as Vault Comics on his upcoming original graphic novel Bonding, with artist and co-creator Emily Pearson. His short work can be found in anthologies such as Corpus (2018), Dead Beats (2019), and Everything is Going Wrong (2019).   

"I was once six years old eating malted milk-balls in my pj’s, glued to the television, exclusively watching Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. 25 years later, I'm actually writing Power Rangers, and it is bonkers: a literal dream come true. POWER RANGERS: SINS OF THE FUTURE is the story that my six year old self would have wanted to write,” said writer Matthew Erman. “Jen Scotts of Power Rangers Time Force takes center stage in this story, and she's such a deep, interesting character with so much to pull from that writing her and other characters from Time Force has been a real gift. Giuseppe Cafaro is an Italian comic book artist who has worked in the industry since 2010 to great acclaim. Cafaro has been the artist for titles such as Catwoman, Suicide Squad, and Superman/Wonder Woman for DC Comics, Fathom and Soulfire for Aspen Comics, and Power Rangers: The Psycho Path,  Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon and Firefly: Bad Company for BOOM! Studios.

BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands Debut Second Ongoing Power Rangers Series

BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands announce SABAN’S GO GO POWER RANGERS, an all-new ongoing comic book series that will debut in July 2017 and is based on the original, hit TV series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.” The series will explore the transition of the original five Rangers from ordinary high schoolers to world-saving superheroes. Ryan Parrott (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy) returns to BOOM! Studios and the Power Rangers franchise after his work on the sold-out, original graphic novel, Power Rangers: Aftershock, which followed the release of the 2017 feature film, “Saban’s Power Rangers.” Parrott is teaming with Russ Manning Award-winning artist Dan Mora (WWE, Klaus).  

Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is set after the first episode of “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and centers around Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini, and Billy as they navigate high school, just days after receiving their superhero abilities. The story delves into their lives of saving the world while juggling history tests, dating and after-school jobs.   

“It's hard enough being a teenager and juggling relationships, school, and family—I can't even imagine throwing in protecting the world,” says Parrott. “The goal of Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers is to focus on more personal, intimate character stories. We dive deeper to fully examine the wish-fulfilling, awesomeness of having superpowers, along with the pressure of that responsibility.”   

Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers will be the second ongoing Power Rangers comic book series launched and follows the record-breaking debut of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from BOOM! Studios in January 2016, which sold over 1 million copies in its first year.   

After the hit series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” launched in 1993, Saban’s “Power Rangers” quickly became the most-watched children’s television programs and is one of the longest-running kids action series in television history. Currently the series is in its 24th season with “Power Rangers Ninja Steel” airing on Nickelodeon and rolling out globally throughout the year.   

“The ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ was one of my first exposures to the superhero genre, and a big part of the appeal was the lives of these characters when they weren’t saving the world,” says Dafna Pleban, Editor. “Ryan [Parrott] and Dan [Mora] are incredibly adept at capturing both the awesome cosmic action of being a Ranger, and the emotional reality of being a teen at the same time.”

New Power Ranger Sentries Debut in 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' #13

BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands are proud to debut three new Power Rangers Sentries in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #13, the latest issue of their best-selling comic book series. The issue went on sale March 15 in comic book shops.  

Following the debut of the Mastodon Sentries in issue #11, this issue features the Tyrannosaurus Sentries, Sabertooth Sentries, and Pterodactyl Sentries, troopers molded after the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and under the command of Lord Drakkon on an alternate timeline Earth. In the story, Tommy Oliver and Billy Cranston have been transported to that universe, in which Lord Drakkon—the Tommy Oliver of this timeline—and Rita Repulsa have conquered the planet. In eluding capture by the Sentries and trying to find their way back to their own world, the pair find allies with an underground resistance called The Coinless.  

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #13 is written by Kyle Higgins and illustrated by Hendry Prasetya. The Sentries were designed by MMPR cover artist Jamal Campbell and Saban Brands.

In addition, issue #13 features the first installment of Ryan Ferrier (Kennel Block Blues) and Bachan's (Bill & Ted Save the Universe) story, "The Ongoing Misadventures of Squatt & Baboo," starring the two bumbling henchmen of Rita Repulsa. The story will run in two-page installments until issue #24.

Power Rangers #11 Masks, Power Rangers #9 2nd Print

In support of the release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #11 (on sale 1/18), BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands will make available exclusively to comic book retailers collectible masks of the all-new, mysterious Power Ranger that debuted in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #9.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #11—written by Kyle Higgins, illustrated by Hendry Prasetya, and a main cover by Jamal Campbell—picks up directly after the events of issue #9. [Note: December’s issue #10 features a “break in the action” story featuring a solo adventure centered on the Blue Ranger, Billy Cranston.] While this issue will reveal the shocking identity of this mysterious new Ranger, fans will get a chance to imagine themselves as the first new Mighty Morphin Power Ranger in 23 years with special masks arriving in stores the day of release. Fans should check with their local comic book shop on availability of the masks.

The mask features artwork by Prasetya based on a design by Campbell, Saban Brands, and BOOM! Studios.

Issue #9 has sold out at the distributor level. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #9 Second Printing Variant arrives in stores on January 18. The issue is written by Kyle Higgins (Nightwing, Hadrian’s Wall) with art by Hendry Prasetya and a cover by Goñi Montes.

Lionsgate Releases First Look at New Power Rangers Costumes

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.  Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery (A Few Less Men) as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott (The 33) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G (Empire) as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt) as Zack the Black Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games franchise) as Rita Repulsa.
