Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Meet For First Time in New Event Series From BOOM! Studios

BOOM! Studios, under license by Hasbro, Inc. and in partnership with IDW and Nickelodeon, announced an all-new five-issue limited series event -  MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES! Written by Ryan Parrott (Power Rangers: Necessary Evil) and illustrated by Simone di Meo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Venom Annual), the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fight - and maybe team up with - the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the first time in comic book history beginning December 2019.

The Power Rangers arrive in New York City to find Tommy Oliver - AKA The Mighty Morphin Green Ranger - but soon discover he's joined forces with the villainous Shredder and the Foot Clan! As the Rangers are sent reeling by this betrayal, they're confronted by another (fr)enemy - the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Can these heroes find a way to work together to defeat the bad guys and save the world from total destruction?!

MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1 (OF 5) features a main cover by Dan Mora (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Once & Future), with Turtle Ranger Helmet variant covers by Goñi Montes (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and more!

New York Times bestselling author Ryan Parrott was one of the key architects of the landmark Power Rangers: Shattered Grid comic book event and currently writes both Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers at BOOM! Studios, along with creator-owned projects Volition and Oberon for Aftershock Comics.

"Honestly, I'm pretty certain keeping this project a secret has taken years off my life. These two iconic franchises were my TV parents, each teaching me valuable life lessons thirty minutes at a time. The Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles are too insanely awesome not to bring together. I mean, they're both color-coded teenage martial artists who fight monsters! It just makes too much sense!" said writer Ryan Parrott. "A huge thank you to Hasbro and Nickelodeon for letting me play with so many of their wonderful toys, as it is truly an honor to be a part of such an exciting crossover. I'm the luckiest kid in the world, and I cannot wait for you all to see what we've been putting together."

Simone di Meo is a comic book artist from Italy. He has recently worked as the artist on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for BOOM! Studios and Venom Annual #1, Immortal Hulk: The Best Defense, and Old Man Logan Annual for Marvel Entertainment.

"It’s an honor to be able to work on this amazing project. I'm very happy to be a part of this, one of the crossovers I've been waiting for since I was a kid,” said artist Simone di Meo. “Drawing these two teams together is a dream come true!"

Currently, Power Rangers is celebrating 26 continuous years on the air, making it one of the longest running kids’ live-action series in television history with nearly 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise celebrates its milestone anniversary year with the 26th season, Power Rangers Beast Morphers currently airing on Saturdays at 8 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon in the U.S.

“No one could possibly love the Power Rangers or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles more than the creative team at the helm of this epic event! Which means they’ve got every dream team up scenario you can think of jam-packed into the pages of every issue.” said Dafna Pleban, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Monsters will grow. Shells will get kicked. And that thing you’re really hoping we’ll do? Yeah, that’s in here, too.”

Unboxing July's Loot Crate: Animation

This unboxing is coming a whole month later than it should. Unfortunately it's because Loot Crate apparently had some issues with their t-shirts, which caused a huge delay. That being said, this month's crate was worth the wait. The theme, which was animation, brought together some of our favorite cartoons!

First up was a Slurm coozie from Futurama. To be honest, it's not a practical item for me personally, but it was still pretty cool and will be going to a good home.

The t-shirt this month (or last month) was based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. This. Shirt. Is. Awesome. It's got the Turtles rolling in their van in a neon green and a huge turtle shell behind it.

There were not one, but TWO Bob's Burgers items in the crate. The first was a set of cards full of unique burger recipes! This is definitely getting some use as BBQ's are a regular event here at Geek Hash HQ. The second item was a Burger Gene pin. This is probably the best pin Loot Crate has ever put out.

Finally, the BEST item in the box was an exclusive figure from Rick and Morty. Based on the episode "The Ricks Must Be Crazy," this Morty figure is definitely NSFW. The figure "replicates Rick's arrival and greeting to the denizens of the microverse."

Inside July's Loot Crate:

- Burger Gene Pin (Loot Crate)

- Bob's Burgers Recipe Cards (Penguin Random House)

- TMNT Turtle Van Shirt (Nickelodeon)

- Futurama Slurm Koozies 2-pack (A Crowded Coop)

- Rick and Morty Figure (Loot Crate)

Unboxing January's Loot Crate: Origins

Loot Crate took us back in time last month. All the way back to our geeky "Origins." They packed this box with some of the most awesome items we've ever received! If I had only one complaint, it'd be the lack of a Spider-Man item, because one could always use another Spidey item. But seriously, this crate was worth every penny!

They gave the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles A LOT of love in this month's box. We got not one, not two, but THREE Turtles items! First up was an exclusive TMNT Tiki Muglet. There were five different mini-mug's available (Mikey, Donnie, Leo, Raph, and Shredder) and Looter's got one random mug in their crate; I got Raphael (my favorite Turtle!). Next up was an exclusive TMNT logo pin, which is hands down the best pin Loot Crate has made so far. Finally, we got a code to download TMNT #'s 1-5 via Comixology from IDW. That's a lotta Turtles stuff, and I'm not complaining about it.

The next item was probably the coolest one in the box: a 1:6 scale metal replica of Captain America's 1940's shield from "The First Avenger." It comes with a stand and certificate of authenticity from
EFX Collectibles. The second coolest item in the box was definitely the monthly T-shirt featuring everyone's favorite plumber, Super Mario. The tees Loot Crate has been sending out lately have been awesome and are super high quality. This one was no exception.

Lastly, Superman was also a big part of this month's box (literally). We were treated to a reprint replica copy of Action Comics #1. It was printed on "the original newsprint stock with the original ads," and came with a certificate of authenticity. But that's not all! This month's box converts into a comic book holder featuring Superman. This was the most creative and useful box we've gotten so far. There was literally nothing that I wasn't impressed with this month. Can next month's theme, "Build" top it? I don't know, but I can't wait to find out.

Inside this month's crate:

- Exclusive Captain America Golden Age Shield (EFX Collectibles)
- Exclusive  Original "Jumpman" T-Shirt (Nintendo/Loot Crate)
- Exclusive TMNT Tiki Muglets (Nickelodeon/Beeline Creative, Inc.)
- Exclusive Action Comics #1 Reprint (DC Comics)
- TMNT Pin (Loot Crate)
- TMNT #'s 1-5 (IDW/Comixology)

Ninja Turtles Stackable Mystery Figures

Thanks to Funko, I've become addicted to blind boxes. For me, it's the thrill of pulling that rare figure that's the allure. It's a bit frustrating when you end up with several of the same character. But knowing people that I can trade with makes it a bit easier on the wallet.

I came across the recently released Ninja Turtles Stackable Mystery Figures at Toys R Us. They're not Funko, but they piqued my curiosity, and the $4.99 price tag wasn't too bad, so I picked a couple up. The chances of getting a figure varies between 1/6 and 1/12.

I pulled a Bebop and Michaelangelo; not bad for my first two figures. These are a bit bigger and heavier than Mystery Minis and just as cool. I like the fact that they're stackable, it adds another layer of fun to them. The sculpts are really good and the price is right, so I'll definitely be picking up more of them. I totally need a Turtle totem pole.

First Ever TMNT Toys Designed by Co-Creator

For the first time in the 32 year history of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a full set of 1/6 scale action figures has been designed from the toes up by Co-Creator, Kevin Eastman.

In partnership with high-end to-scale production house Threezero, Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael come to life as fully articulated figures directly from the mind of Eastman.

“The Turtles are always evolving,” said Eastman from his San Diego home, “Every artist who's tackled them over the years (and there have been many) have put their own flair on the characters while keeping the spirit of the Turtles we know and love. This is the version I've developed in my mind and and my personal sketchbooks.”

While the first sets of Mikey and Leo will be made available this fall at threezero.com Eastman is offering an extremely Limited Edition 25 sets which include custom paint and headgear, individual tattoos, a signed copy of the original concept sketches, and a miniature pizza box signed and numbered with a head sketch by the Co-Creator himself. Limited Edition sets are available for pre-order on a first-come first-served basis at kevineastmanstudios.com.

Unboxing November's Loot Crate: Combat

This month's Loot Crate, "Combat," featured some of the biggest franchises in TV, film, and video games. Boasting loot from Fallout, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Hunger Games, this month's crate was full of battle-tested goodness. With so many potential properties that could have been included, I think Loot Crate nailed it with a batch of awesome items that fit the theme perfectly. It would have been nice to have seen something from Pokémon and maybe even Godzilla, but it's hard to complain when what we did get was pretty awesome.

To coincide with the releases of Fallout and The Hunger Games, we were treated to an exclusive Vault Boy Bobble Head and a very spiffy Mockingjay pin. Other exclusives included were a set of Cute But Deadly magnets and a Street Fighter comic that contained an original story. Also included were a pair of TMNT Shredder sunglasses, gift tags, and a Cute But Deadly vinyl mystery figure. All in all, not a bad haul for Looters this month!

Inside this month's box:

- Exclusive "Cute But Deadly" Magnet Set (Blizzard Entertainment)
- Exclusive Fallout 4 Vault Boy Bobble Head (Bethesda)
- TMNT Shredder Sunglasses (H2W)
- The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 Pin (Loot Crate Labs)
- Exclusive Street Fighter Hyper Looting Comic Book (Capcom)
- Cute But Deadly Vinyl Mystery Figure (Blizzard Entertainment)
