BOOM! Studios and Cartoon Network Enterprises Announce 'Adventure Time/Regular Show' Crossover Comic Book Series
BOOM! Studios and Cartoon Network Enterprises announce ADVENTURE TIME/REGULAR SHOW, a comic crossover adventure that’s anything but regular. The six-issue limited series launches in August and will bring together the casts of the two hit Cartoon Network series into one story.
When a powerful new villain threatens to conquer Adventure Time’s Land of Ooo, Princess Bubblegum sends Finn and Jake on a desperate quest to find The Power that can save the land—a power that Skips from Regular Show just happens to be hiding! Finn and Jake’s arrival only exacerbates an existing tension between Mordecai and Rigby, and the trip back to Ooo threatens to tear two sets of bros apart… forever.
Written by Conor McCreery (Kill Shakespeare) and illustrated by Mattia Di Meo (Uncle Grandpa), Adventure Time/Regular Show marks the first-ever crossover between the two properties, a fact that’s not lost on the creative team.
“When you get the opportunity to put your little flag into the surface of not one, but two of the greatest story worlds in recent history, you gotta say yes!” exclaims McCreery. “I'm excited, terrified, tickled, and tormented by all the amazing characters and storylines that could go into this crazy thing. Adventure Time and Regular Show are special to me because of the combination of out-of-left-field humor and really deep emotion. I'm going to try to honor those twin engines as best I can with a story that has a LOT of weird stuff, a whack of battles, a few tears, and at least one incidence of Ice King being a patoot."
“Being a super-fan of Adventure Time and Regular Show, this is really like a dream for me,” adds Di Meo. “I know it sounds kinda weird, but it feels just like being in love for the first time—that peculiar mixture of deep enthusiasm, and deafening emotion. Jokes aside, I want to deliver that special magic that those series always had for me. That sense of fun, adventure with that special levity that made all those stories special for me."
Through its award-winning all-ages imprint KaBOOM!, BOOM! Studios began publishing Adventure Time comics in 2012 and Regular Show comics the following year. Both comic series went on to break sales records for all-ages comic publishing. From the mind of series creator Pendleton Ward, the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Adventure Time follows the unlikely heroes Finn and Jake, best buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colorful inhabitants—and always find themselves in the middle of heart-pounding escapades. Created by J.G. Quintel, Regular Show chronicles the adventures of Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, a raccoon, a couple of best bros in their 20s who work as groundskeepers at a local park—but would rather chill out for a bit.
“It’s almost silly that we haven’t had this crossover yet,” remarks Whitney Leopard, Editor. “Adventure Time and Regular Show are both incredible series with a great cast of characters that work amazingly together. Conor and Mattia bring both worlds together in such a fun and way, you’re not going to want to miss it!”
Adventure Time/Regular Show #1 features a connecting main cover by Phil Murphy (both covers will ship in a 50/50 intermix), a subscription cover by Jorge Corona that pays homage to an Avengers vs. X-Men #1 cover, and a mash-up homage cover by Dustin Nguyen, featuring Mordecai and Rigby emulating the Adventure Time title card.
Print copies of Adventure Time/Regular Show #1 will be available for sale at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Webstore in August. Digital copies will be available to purchase on digital book marketplaces, including ComiXology and the BOOM! Studios app.
Adventure Time/Regular Show is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ critically acclaimed KaBOOM! imprint, publisher of world-class licensed series such as Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, Peanuts, and Garfield, along with original series like Brave Chef Brianna by Sam Sykes and Selina Espiritu, and The Deep by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer.

The Jim Henson Company has partnered with McFarlane Toys, which will harken back to its roots of "Movie Maniacs" to create figures of classic characters from two of Henson's most well-known features Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.
Directed by visionary Jim Henson and executive produced by George Lucas, Labyrinth is a fanboy favorite and wonder of puppetry. Stuck babysitting her brother, teenager Sarah, resentfully wishes The Goblin King (memorably portrayed by David Bowie) can take him away. When her wish comes true, Sarah must head into the Labyrinth herself to save him. Since its 1986 release the film has garnered a cult popularity and is still reveled in today's era as a timeless classic.
The Dark Crystal, directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, brilliantly weaves a timeless myth of good and evil. In another time, The Dark Crystal, a source of balance and truth in the universe, was broken, dividing the world into two factions; the wicked Skeksis and the peaceful Mystics. Now, as the convergence of the three suns approaches, the crystal must be healed, or darkness will reign forever. The Dark Crystal's fanbase has only risen since the film's debut and has also developed a cult following of fans across the world.
McFarlane Toys has produced highly detailed figures and construction sets for various entertainment properties and this collaboration with The Jim Henson Company will give fans of these iconic films new and unique action figures that are "true to life" replicas of their on-screen personas.
The upcoming toys will include a 7-inch figure of Labyrinth's Jareth The Goblin King, and for The Dark Crystal, fans can look forward to figures of Jen and Kira. Each figure will be highly detailed and come fully articulated to recreate infamous movie scenes. These figures will also debut in new window box collector packaging and will come with Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal branded detailed bases.
"Fans of both Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal continue to grow, while both brands also enjoy the passionate and loyal support of committed followers for decades," said Vice President of Global Consumer Products for The Jim Henson Company, Federico San Martin. "We are looking forward to McFarlane toys introducing the characters that defined these classic adventures to our legions of fans around the world."
"Jim Henson was one of the most visually creative minds, and these incredible movies are just the tip of the iceberg," said Todd McFarlane, Owner and CEO of McFarlane Toys. "We pride ourselves on our creativity and attention to detail, and to be able to make figures of these iconic characters is something pretty special."
McFarlane Toys' Labyrinth Jareth The Goblin King figure will be available at major retailers this November carrying an MSRP: $19.99 (and now available for pre-order, HERE). The Dark Crystal Jen and Kira figures are slated to release Spring 2018. For more information about The Jim Henson Company visit www.henson.com. NPR Music's "Tiny Desk" Winner's Tank and The Bangas at ID10T Festival on Saturday, June 24th at 3:40pm
NPR Music's "Tiny Desk" Winner's Tank and The Bangas will be performing at ID10T Festival on Saturday, June 24th at 3:40pm on the Shoreline Amphitheatre Music Stage.
Originating in New Orleans, Tank and The Bangas have all the qualities that relate them to the city that birthed them but a flair that separates them as well. Their performances range from being "one of the most energetic shows you'll ever see to "a gospel tent in Mississippi." Rummaging through their sound like a thrift store hippie, you'll find the Bangas to provoke a musical reference of rhythmic soul and spoken word among other genres such as rock, gospel, funk and folk.
Of their music, Bob Boilen at NPR Music proclaims, "This band combines R&B with hip-hop's poetry and rollercoaster storytelling, with a flair and alchemy that could only come from New Orleans," while Complex calls them, "...a truly unique artist."

ID10T Music Festival + Comic Conival Adds Con Man and Futurama Talks to Programming Schedule, Plus Live Nerdist Podcast Tapings, Themed Panel Discussions, Saban’s Power Rangers Laser Tag Course & more!
Created and Hosted by Comedian Chris Hardwick ID10T Reveals Full Weekend Schedule With Panel Guests, Moderators, Themes, & Music Performances and Comedy Sets By Today’s Top Artists
Saturday, June 24th & Sunday, June 25th in Silicon Valley, CA at the Shoreline Amphitheatre and Surrounding Grounds
ID10T Music Festival & Comic Conival has revealed its full weekend schedule of music, comedy sets, panels and more. Con Man and Futurama have been added to the impressive lineup of confirmed panels alongside Portlandia, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Harmontown, Animaniacs LIVE!, The Magicians, and Stan Against Evil. A number of intimate themed panels and podcasts have also been announced, including live Nerdist Podcast tapings, panels from Valiant Entertainment and AfterShock, tech panel Robots Among Us: Fantasy vs. Reality, and many, many more. The groundbreaking, first of its kind event created and hosted by Chris Hardwick, will take over the Shoreline Amphitheatre and surrounding grounds in Mountain View, CA on Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th.
Panel additions include:
Con Man, featuring guests Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk, moderated by Chris Hardwick.
A decade has passed since Wray Nerely (Alan Tudyk) was an actor on the hit (well, cult hit) sci-fi show, Spectrum. Wray’s career has stalled in the vacuum of space while his best friend and former co-star, Jack Moore’s (Nathan Fillion), has hit warp speed. Aided by his truly certifiable convention booker, Bobbie (Mindy Sterling), Wray navigates the sci-fi convention circuit alongside a host of colorful who’s-whos and has-beens. He struggles with the trappings of a stagnant career, the adoration of a rabid fanbase, and an industry that only sees him as a quirky spaceship pilot.
Futurama, featuring guests Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, and Phil LaMarr.
Hatched from Matt Groening's brain, Futurama follows pizza guy Philip J. Fry (voiced by Billy West), who reawakens in 31st century New New York after a cryonics lab accident. Now part of the Planet Express delivery crew, Fry travels to the farthest reaches of the universe with his robot buddy Bender and cyclopsian love interest Leela, discovering freaky mutants, intergalactic conspiracies and other strange stuff. The panel will feature West (Philip J. Fry), Maurice LaMarche (Morbo) and Phil LaMarr (Hermes Conrad).
Nerdist Podcast: Join Chris Hardwick, Jonah Ray, and Matt Mira for a live recording of a Hostful Nerdist Podcast!
Previously announced panels include IFC’s Emmy nominated comedy Portlandia, featuring guests Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, moderated by Chris Hardwick; award-winning comedy television series Mystery Science Theater 3000, featuring guests Jonah Ray, Hampton Yount, and Rebecca Hanson, moderated by Wil Wheaton; SYFY's The Magicians featuring guests John McNamara, Sera Gable, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, and Summer Bishil, moderated by Chris Hardwick; Animaniacs Live! featuring original cast members Rob Paulsen (Yakko, Pinky from Pinky and the Brain), Maurice LaMarche (Brain from Pinky and the Brain), and Emmy-award winning composer Randy Rogel, moderated by Chris Hardwick; Harmontown, featuring guests Dan Harmon (Community, Rick & Morty), Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway), and Spencer Crittenden (HarmonQuest), plus special guests; and IFC’s original horror comedy series Stan Against Evil, featuring guests John C McGinley (Scrubs), Janet Varney (You’re the Worst), and Dana Gould (The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation), moderated by Jessica Chobot.
Additionally, ID10T has announced a number of themed panels happening in the Artist Alley, along with a number of podcast tapings in the Monster Energy Comedy Tent. Guests and descriptions are as follows:

Robots Among Us: Fantasy vs. Reality: Featuring guests Omar Abdelwahed (Head of Studio for SoftBank Robotics America), Alonso Martinez (Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios), and more. Today we’re embarking on a new industrial revolution led by emerging technology breakthroughs in fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, the Internet of Things, and autonomous vehicles. While we are still years away from a real-life C-3PO, robots are becoming an integral part of our lives. Come hear a panel of experts discuss how the burgeoning robotics industry is getting us closer to making C-3P0 less of a fantasy, and more of a reality. Walk away with a deeper understanding of how robotics already plays a role in our daily life, and how society will shift to become more comfortable with the idea of co-existing with robots and interacting with them on a deeper level. This panel will take a deep dive into how movies, books, art and entertainment have played a significant role in the development of today’s robots, and how fantasy is becoming reality as social robots become more prolific and technologically advanced.
Nerdist Comic Book Panel podcast: Host Ben Blacker discusses the business and creative process of making comics with other comics creators. Come hear Aftershock Comics’ Editor-in-Chief Mike Marts, Donny Cates, and Garry Brown talk about Aftershock’s place in the world of creator owned comics.

Tickets are still available for ID10T, and kids 10 and under are free with accompanying paid adult admission. With something sure to appeal to the whole family, Lionsgate, in partnership with Nerdist, will power a Laser Tag course themed to Saban’s Power Rangers in celebration of the film’s June 27 release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD. Two teams of five players each will compete head to head, with surprises lurking around every corner. Just outside of the Laser Tag course, attendees can also look forward to giveaways, costumes from the film, demos of the Power Rangers: Legacy Wars mobile game, and a special appearance on Sunday by the Yellow Ranger and Blue Ranger themselves, Becky G and RJ Cyler! Don’t forget to come dressed as your favorite Power Ranger for a chance to win some morphtastic prizes! Additionally, there will be table top gaming tournaments, a number of Toyota fan experiences (including a Cinderella-themed infinity photo booth, interactive beatbox, and live caricature station, to name a few), and much more!

In addition, McFarlane Toys will also create merchandise from the entire Star Trek universe, ranging from the iconic classic television series Star Trek: The Original Series to the legendary films.
The initial line will highlight two of the most iconic characters in the Star Trek universe with articulated 7-inch figures of U.S.S. Enterprise Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek: The Original Series and U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation. These figures will debut in window box collector packaging and feature iconic accessories such as phasers and communicators. Various characters from the highly-anticipated Star Trek: Discovery television series and other adaptations will follow.
"Star Trek is hands down one of the most groundbreaking and innovative franchises in the history of entertainment," said Todd McFarlane, Owner and CEO of McFarlane Toys. "We plan on carrying that forward with our upcoming toy lines, giving fans a fresh and detailed look, that their favorite characters deserve."
"We are excited to sign McFarlane Toys as the first licensee for Star Trek: Discovery. Their commitment to quality and dedication to fans is the perfect combination to bring this lineup of products to life," said Veronica Hart, Senior Vice President of CBS Consumer Products. "We know Star Trek fans worldwide are looking forward to it as much as we are."

Born from the mind of Gene Roddenberry, the original Star Trek series debuted on September 8, 1966 and aired for three seasons -- a short run that belied the influence it would have for generations. It spawned six more television series and 13 feature films spanning the course of half a century. Its newest chapter, Star Trek: Discovery, will feature a new ship, new characters, and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. The series will premiere on the CBS Television Network with all subsequent episodes available on CBS All Access, the Network's digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service, and will be distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix in 188 countries and in Canada on Bell Media’s Space channel and OTT service CraveTV.

May officially kicks off the summer movie season. This year it was launched by Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy with all the hype that comes from a hugely successful franchise. To celebrate the release, Loot Crate brought together their favorite guardians from comics, movies, cartoons, and video games! Franchises in this month's box were Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, Destiny, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and The Goonies.
The first item in the box was possibly the BEST figure Looter's have ever received in their regular crate: Rocket and Baby Groot. This Q-Fig features Rocket Raccoon, guns blazing, with Baby Groot atop his head. If that wasn't enough, there are digital copies of Rocket Raccoon #1 and Groot #1 included!
This month's shirt and pin come from some much-loved movies and cartoons. The tee, a Loot Crate exclusive, is from the classic film The Goonies. It features the skull/swords logo and the group's motto: "Never Say Die." Definitely a keeper. This month's exclusive pin is very, very cool AND is a Loot Crate first. It features Avatar's Aang and it glows in the dark!
The last two items in the box come from Star Wars and Destiny. Looter's received a Star Wars coloring book. The book contains "30 images to inspire creativity" and also came with color pencils. Finally, the last item in the box were three Destiny patches you can iron or sew onto your favorite bag or jacket. If you decide not to attach them to anything, you also have the option of displaying them "in special packaging suitable for framing."
When Loot Crate announced this month's wearable was a Wash shirt from Firefly, I didn't hesitate ordering it. Man, am I glad that I did! The shirt is perfect for fans, like me, of the Serenity's pilot. Bonus: my cousin's baby shower is Hawaiian-themed, so one guess which shirt I'll be wearing.
Inside this month's Loot Crate:
-Rocket and Baby Groot Q-Fig (QMx)
-The Goonies T-shirt (Warner Bros./Ripple Junction)
-Star Wars Coloring Book & Pencils (Lucasfilm/Disney Publishing)
-Destiny Patches (Bungie/Jake Nadel)
-Avatar Pin (Nickelodeon/Loot Crate)
-Rocket Raccoon #1 & Groot #1 (Marvel/Comixology)
This month's Wearable:
-Wash Hawaiian Shirt

Featuring songs from the run of the show, Animaniacs LIVE! is based on the beloved WB cartoon Animaniacs which delighted television audiences from 1992 to 1998. Cartoon clips will be shown alongside the talent. In addition to the concert, Rob, Maurice and Randy share behind the scenes secrets about the making of the series! Whether you’re a lover of music, animation, or fun, experience Animaniacs like never before in Animaniacs LIVE!
Portlandia, featuring guests Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, moderated by Chris Hardwick.
IFC's Emmy-nominated comedy Portlandia is currently in production for its eighth and final season. Created by Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and Jonathan Krisel, Portlandia explores the eccentric misfits who embody the foibles of modern culture, starring Armisen and Brownstein. The series is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Broadway Video.
Mystery Science Theater 3000, featuring guests Jonah Ray, Hampton Yount, and Rebecca Hanson, moderated by Wil Wheaton.
For almost 30 years, the award-winning comedy television series Mystery Science Theater 3000, created by Joel Hodgson, has been known as one of the best cult TV shows of all time. Following its record-breaking #BringBackMST3K Kickstarter campaign, fourteen brand-new episodes of the cult television show Mystery Science Theater 3000 launched on April 14, 2017, exclusively on Netflix. In the new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (aka MST3K) Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day) and her loyal henchman, Max (Patton Oswalt), have revived the infamous experiment started by Kinga's father twenty-nine years earlier: How many cheesy movies does it take to drive a person mad? In this latest reiteration of the show, her test subject is Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray), a space pilot for Gizmonic Institute who gets trapped responding to a distress call from the dark side of the moon. Confined aboard the Satellite of Love, Jonah lives with his robot friends, Gypsy (voiced by Rebecca Hanson), Tom Servo (voiced by Baron Vaughn), and Crow T. Robot (voiced by Hampton Yount). Confronted with Kinga's choices in torturous films, Jonah and the bots band together to ward off lunacy by continuously riffing on the movies in rapid-fire succession.
Harmontown, featuring guests Dan Harmon, Jeff B. Davis, and Spencer Crittenden.
Dan Harmon (Community, Rick & Morty), alongside "comptroller" Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line Is It Anyway), and game master Spencer Crittenden (HarmonQuest), will bring his wildly popular podcast "Harmontown" to the festival — LIVE. Expect ineffectual rants, raps, shameful stories and special guests. Dan Harmon is the Emmy® winning creator/executive producer of the comedy series Community as well as the co-creator/executive producer of Adult Swim's Rick & Morty.
Stan Against Evil, featuring guests John C McGinley, Janet Varney, and Dana Gould, moderated by Jessica Chobot.
IFC's original horror comedy series Stan Against Evil is currently in production for its second season. Created, written and executive produced by Dana Gould (The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation), Stan Against Evil stars John C. McGinley (Scrubs) and Janet Varney (You're the Worst). Stan Against Evil follows Stan Miller (McGinley), a perpetually disgruntled former sheriff of a small New England town who was forced into retirement. Stan has trouble relinquishing his authority to Evie Barret (Varney), the tough and beautiful new sheriff in town, but they form an unlikely alliance when both begin to realize things are not quite right in their quaint New England town. Together, they valiantly fight a plague of unleashed demons that have been haunting the town, which just happens to be built on the site of a massive 17th century witch burning.
ID10T has also announced some exciting Toyota fan engagement experiences coming to the festival grounds, sure to appeal to the whole family. Kids 10 and under are free with accompanying paid adult admission. With panels from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., comedy from 4:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m., and music from 4:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m., attendees can expect a full day packed with entertainment, all in an outdoor setting.
Toyota, ID10T’s exclusive automotive partner, will create a unique experience that harnesses the fresh spirit of multicultural mischief makers, while immersing attendees in the key design elements of the Toyota C-HR. Inspired by the new C-HR campaign in which modern day fairytales are brought to life, the Toyota experience will feature a Cinderella-themed infinity photo booth and guests will view a Gingerbread Man-inspired car chase through a moving grid of urban skyscapes and infinite light beams. With the interactive beatbox, the C-HR interior will be converted into a larger than life beatbox where guests will get inside to create their own personalized instrument and show. At the live caricature station, a pop culture illustrator will transform guests into a comic book character, creating a commemorative poster complete with the festival logo. Lastly, guests’ photos will be transformed into a comic book strip after choosing villain or superhero along with their special power, which will be merged with custom art for a keepsake. Stylish, athletic and filled with technology, the first-ever 2018 Toyota C-HR – or, Coupe High-Rider – serves as a springboard of excitement, mischief and wanderlust for its trendsetting drivers, getting them on to their next big thrill.
