Official Locke & Key Trailer Hits The Web

The trailer for Locke & Key has popped up online and it looks awesome. Unfortunately, FOX passed on it, so we won't be seeing the Locke family on our TV screens next season. The pilot was given a screening at this years Comic-Con if you were lucky enough to be there. Those of us that weren't are just going to have to settle for the trailer or wait until the full pilot drops online (if we're lucky). Check out the trailer below:

IDW Releases Issue #2 OF Alan Robert's "Crawl To Me" Today!

"From the very first page of Crawl to Me #2 I had goose bumps... Alan Robert has a firm grip on what makes a horror comic great. There’s a grotesque beauty to the horror’s visuals that is very, very rare in the horror genre (including comics, novels, and films)." - Giant Fire Breathing Robot

Today marks the release of issue #2 of Crawl to Me, a four part mini-series created by Alan Robert (bestknown for being the bassist and creative force behind the respected hard rock group, Life of Agony) and published by IDW Publishing (30 Days of Night, Locke and Key, Zombies Vs. Robots). Fans can pick up issue #2, as well as issue #1 by visiting their local comic shop and/or purchasing it online here:
http://www.fpnyc.com/Crawl-To-Me-%232-%28of-4%29/DCD445299/94050/
Boasting three unique covers per issue with contributing artists such as Silent Hill: Past Life painter, Menton J. Matthews III and UK illustrator, David Lupton and Robert, Crawl to Me takes place in an isolated country town during the frigid winter months. The story centers on a young family as they cope with a series of disturbing events that force them to question their relationship, their faith and their very existence. When husband and wife, Ryan and Jessica, move into their first home together, strange things begin to occur. Half-eaten animals and other remains are found inside the basement’s crawl space. Their family dog disappears within the house. Distant voices are heard from beneath the floorboards. The couple begins to think that an evil entity is living inside their walls. Nothing can prepare them for what they’ll discover, but Ryan and Jessica soon realize that they must set aside all they believe to be true, in order to face their inevitable reality.

In related news, Robert has teamed up with Guitar World and the good folks at Dean Guitars to present the ultimate giveaway: One lucky winner will receive a one-of-a-kind Dean Deceiver X complete with custom Crawl to Me graphics! Go here for a chance to win:

Sony Drops PS3 Price Point By $50

Sony cut the price of their PS3 gaming system from $299.99 down to $249 effective immediately. Europeans will be able to buy it for €249 and it will be available in Japan for ¥24,980. At launch the system retailed for $400. Even at that price, with the added Blu-ray player and backwards compatibility it was, at the time, one great deal.

Many are speculating what this price drop means. If you go by historical evidence then this looks to mean that Sony will soon be announcing the PS4. If you look at the recent troubles Sony has had with their hacking scandal, the disasters in Japan and the fact that the 360 continues to dominate the market it looks like Sony may be cutting its losses and trying to push forward. Whatever it means, you can't argue with the fact that for those who don't already own one, this is one helluva deal.

Not usually a fan of Katy Perry but this clip from a recent appearance on SMAP X SMAP in Japan made me laugh. It's just so...awkward.

A Conversation With GUMBY writer Christopher P. Reilly

What was the genesis of the book?

CPR: My buddy, Bob (Burden) was no longer writing the book and I thought there should be a Gumby book out there. As a creator, it’s possibly one of the greatest opportunities because you are literally working with a ball of clay; your imagination becomes the only limit to the sorts of stories you can. I approached publisher Mel Smith at San Diego Comic-Con last year and expressed my enthusiasm for the character and asked if I could pitch him a Gumby book. To my delight he said “yes” and even more delightful, he absolutely loved the script and let me pick the artist I would work with which was my friend and long time collaborator Jorge Santillan who delivered some of the best work of his career. I am always honored when an artist of Jorge’s caliber will turn my words into pictures.

Were you a Gumby fan prior to writing this?

CPR: Yes, I have been a fan of Gumby since I was a kid and never stopped enjoying the animated shorts. I watched every episode ever created in one weekend when I got this gig and was amazed that for 3 days I could tell people that my job was watching Gumby shorts. I think what revealed what a huge fan I truly am when I went comatose when I was told I would get to create Gumby’s grandparents, Gumbert and Gumbasia.

Who or what are the biggest influences on your work?

CPR: My list of deserving influences is enormous. I am constantly inspired by books, comics, music and film and am always discovering new influences. I should mention Michael Weldon’s Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film for being my dog eared wormhole to 2/3 of the amazing B movies I never would have seen if Michael hadn’t written about them, including my favorite horror film, 1957’s The Monster That Challenged the World. Suffice to say that if my influences hadn’t existed, I never would have written this story. Kind of a Back to the Future scenario.

You and Jorge have collaborated before. What does he bring to the project?

CPR: Jeeze, what doesn’t Jorge bring to the project? He is the perfect collaborator. I write very long scripts, but I tone that down with Jorge because my elaborate panel breakdowns make me feel like I am telling Picasso how to paint. Jorge is an amazing talent. I would love to read a Gumby comic written and illustrated by Jorge, it would probably be a humbling experience for me. Jorge makes my job easy.

In ten words or less, why should people read this book?

CPR: Gumbastic-fun-Adventure, chocolate igloos, Blockheads, not a zombie in sight.

Gumby Returns To Comics This September!

There's a new player in Clokeyville, an off-kilt philanthropist named Mr. Golfer! What is Golfer's secret? What are the Wooly Mammals? Why are there astronauts selling the founding fathers the Andrew Jackson? Who stole Picnic Park? Who is helping the nefarious Blockheads? And most importantly, how did Gumby become King of the Pirates?

The acclaimed Harvey nominated team of Chris Reilly & Jorge Santillan (Punch & Judy) reunite to answer all of these questions, and proudly present the momentous debut of Gumby's grandparents in an all new Gumby and Pokey adventure like you've never seen before!
