Newest Funko POP! Figures Added to the Collection

I have been trying to be more conscious of the collectibles I buy. Mostly for that fact that I only have so much space in my home. The one thing that I cannot seem to stop collecting is the Funko POP! line of vinyl figures. There's no shortage of awesome pop culture characters in film/tv/video games, which means that there will be no shortage of new Funko figures any time soon.

The newest additions to my ever-expanding collection is the 25th anniversary glow-in-the-dark Crow (which is a Hot Topic exclusive), The Walking Dead's Hershel Greene, Arkham Asylum Killer Croc, and my favorite POP! figure thus far, Dancing Groot.

I had to pick up the Crow figure as soon as I saw him. I was a huge fan of the film and the soundtrack back in high school. I don't think the disc left my car's CD player my whole Senior year (don't do the math)! Hot Topic was running a BOGO 50% off sale, so I just had to pick up another figure. That one ended up being the Walking Dead's Hershel. With his crutches and missing leg, how could I not pick up this figure! The Killer Croc and Dancing Groot were Toys R Us scores. There was no way I could pass either of them up. The Croc is one bad ass looking figure and Groot is a must-have for anyone's collection. The next ones on the list are Big Hero 6's Baymax and Dragonball Z's Vegeta. At this rate, I'd better get used to ramen noodles...

Croc is a well-detailed and hefty figure

SPOILER ALERT!

A Hot Topic Exclusive

Siskel and Ebert's Batman Movie Review

I LOVE film, so Siskel and Ebert were religion for me. Watching their back and forth on 'At the Movies' every week is one of my fondest memories from childhood. It was especially exciting when they reviewed a film that I was looking forward to. If I had already seen the film they were reviewing, I would give my 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down' alongside them. I watched them review movies for years, so when Gene Siskel, and then Roger Ebert passed, it was almost like losing family members.  Here, a clip of Siskel and Ebert reviewing Tim Burton's Batman:

Retailer Incentive Cover by Jake Lawrence

Remember the days when you’d carefully curate a song list and pass out mix tapes to your friends? Well, this December, BOOM! Box, the newest imprint from award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios, is putting that same love into comic form with the oversized (8.5” x 11”) BOOM! Box 2014 Mix Tape #1. Featuring new shorts from BOOM! Box comics Lumberjanes, The Midas Flesh, Teen Dog, and Cyanide & Happiness, and showcasing upcoming comics Help Us! Great Warrior and Munchkin, this is a collection of the best comics of 2014 that are truly made “for the love of it.”

“This is one of the most unique collections of short comic book stories you’ll see this year,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “The Mix Tape is our love letter to experimental comics and a platform for the BOOM! Box family of creators to cut loose!”

If you’re loving The Midas Flesh, Lumberjanes, Teen Dog, and Cyanide & Happiness, and are excited for our comics adaptation of the Munchkin card game, delve into a world of like-minded stories! From the wacky to the touching, you’ll never know what you’re going to get. Here's a tip: This collection features a brand-new Lumberjanes story written by Noelle Stevenson (Nimona) and the first-ever Munchkin comic by John Kovalic, the illustrator of the popular card game.

We reached out to a bunch of our favorite creators with one mission in mind: to bring original, unconventional characters and stories to life. Mix Tape is an eclectic collection of stories based on characters that are anything but your average lot. Talking hamburgers, misunderstood ghosts, and punk rock grandmas are just the tip of these stories that are best described as “off the beaten track.”

The oversized BOOM! Box 2014 Mix Tape #1 arrives from BOOM! Box in comic shops on December 24th with a cover price of $9.99. Both the main cover and the retailer incentive cover are illustrated by Jake Lawrence (Teen Dog).

An Exclusive BOOM! Studios Comic in ‘The Maze Runner’ Blu-ray

On December 16, fans who buy The Maze Runner Blu-ray will get a nice added bonus feature: a special-edition comic book that we created especially for the release! The comic contains two short stories:

The first story is “My Friend George,” written by the film’s director, Wes Ball, and writer, T.S. Nowlin, and illustrated by Marcus To (Hacktivist, Cyborg 009). This story was originally given out to attendees of The Maze Runner panel at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year.

The second tale is “Run Alone,” with a story by Ball and Nowlin, written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly (Hacktivist), and illustrated by To. Set before the events of the film, both stories combine to expand on the film’s universe and add enjoyment to the experience!

Based on the novel by James Dashner, The Maze Runner is a 20th Century Fox film and stars Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, and Kaya Scodelario. It is rated PG-13. To pre-order the Blu-ray, visit http://bit.ly/MazeRunnerBluray
