3 Region-Free Blu-ray's You Need To Import Now!

Doctor Who. The Office. Coupling. The UK has some amazing televison. Obviously. Luckily, these shows are available on DVD (and some are even on Blu-ray). Unfortunately, some of the prices on these sets (Doctor Who) are pretty pricey. Recently, I've been importing region-free Blu's from the Amazon UK site for quite a bit cheaper than what they can be purchased for stateside. Here are 3 great deals you should snatch up while you can:
Misfits: Series 1 & 2 Box Set- $16.29

When five outsiders on community service get struck by a flash storm they end up lumbered with special powers. Hard-as-nails Kelly can suddenly hear people's thoughts, shamed sporting hero Curtis discovers he has the ability to turn back time, and party-girl Alisha can send people into a sexual frenzy when they touch her skin. Even painfully shy Simon can make himself invisible, which makes it all the more hard to swallow for smart-alec Nathan, who seems to have been unaffected... or has he?

Torchwood: Children of Earth- $9.11

After two engagingly frothy seasons of action-packed science fiction TV, the Russell T. (Doctor Who) Davies-produced Torchwood takes a decidedly dark and thoughtful turn in its abbreviated third season miniseries, Children of Earth. Here, Captain Jack Harkness and the Torchwood Three team, still reeling from the deaths of two of its key members in the previous season, investigate a outbreak of hypnotic chanting by children across the globe. The phenomenon heralds the arrival of an invading alien force, the 456, who plan to destroy the human race if 10% of the Earth’s children are not given to them. Captain Jack and his cohorts must find a way to stop the 456’s plan, but encounter formidable obstacles along the way, including enemies in the British Home Office and Jack’s own past, which is intertwined with the 456.

The Sarah Jane Adventures: The Complete Fourth Series- $19.55

Created by former Doctor Who show runner, Russell T Davies, this exciting action-adventure series follows the exploits of school friends Luke, Clyde and Rani, who team up with alien investigator Sarah Jane Smith and her trusty super-computer Mr Smith to examine strange and mysterious events. This time, Sarah Jane is reunited with another of the Doctor's former companions, Jo Grant, and they're joined by the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) in an adventure featuring new vulture aliens and a trip to an alien planet.

TWO Tiger & Bunny Films Announced at Hero Awards 2011

Sunrise and Bandai Visual put together the Hero Awards 2011 to announce the super-secret Tiger & Bunny "Next Project." The event was held twice, once during the day and once at night. The Hero Awards 2011, which went down in Japan on November 13 (today!) brought news of not one, but TWO planned Tiger & Bunny films! The first being scheduled for release in 2012.  Those that attended during the day were asked to not post the big news on social media sites until after the second event.

Word is the event will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in April. It will more than likely only be released in Japan, so one can only hope it will be region-free and come with subtitles for those of us that wish to import it. I have been patiently waiting for an announcement of a U.S. Blu-ray release and it has been confirmed that an english dub is in the pre-production stages. Subtitled versions are available now in a Blu-ray region-free version from Japan but unfortunately run $50.00+ for each disc, with discs containing only 1-2 episodes each!
I cannot wait to see where the story goes next. The series ended with the mystery of who else is involved in and how far reaching Oroburous is, still up in the air. Will these movies answer these questions? Will they be stand alone adventures? Prequels? Start speculating now. 2012 can't get here soon enough for Tiger & Bunny fans.

Archaia To Release Marjane Satrapi's 'The Sigh' In November

Following its debut in France and Spain, U.S. fans of Satrapi’s work have waited patiently for The Sigh to arrive in the U.S. The Sigh follows Rose, one of three daughters of a rich merchant who always brings gifts for his girls from the market. One day Rose asks for the seed of a blue bean, but her father fails to find one for her. She lets out a sigh in resignation, and her sigh attracts the Sigh, a mysterious being that brings the seed she desired to the merchant. But every debt has to be paid, and every gift has a price, and the Sigh returns a year later to take the merchant’s daughter to a secret and distant palace.

The Sigh will be presented as a 6” x 8” hardcover, featuring 56 pages of text and beautifully hand-drawn color illustrations. The Sigh will release with a retail price of $10.95.

“The Sigh is a timeless fairytale that promises to capture the imaginations of readers both young and old,” said Smylie. “Marjane is one of those rare writers who has the ability to connect with readers on a global scale and we are proud to bring this story to the U.S.”

IDW Releases Issue #2 OF Alan Robert's "Crawl To Me" Today!

"From the very first page of Crawl to Me #2 I had goose bumps... Alan Robert has a firm grip on what makes a horror comic great. There’s a grotesque beauty to the horror’s visuals that is very, very rare in the horror genre (including comics, novels, and films)." - Giant Fire Breathing Robot

Today marks the release of issue #2 of Crawl to Me, a four part mini-series created by Alan Robert (bestknown for being the bassist and creative force behind the respected hard rock group, Life of Agony) and published by IDW Publishing (30 Days of Night, Locke and Key, Zombies Vs. Robots). Fans can pick up issue #2, as well as issue #1 by visiting their local comic shop and/or purchasing it online here:
http://www.fpnyc.com/Crawl-To-Me-%232-%28of-4%29/DCD445299/94050/
Boasting three unique covers per issue with contributing artists such as Silent Hill: Past Life painter, Menton J. Matthews III and UK illustrator, David Lupton and Robert, Crawl to Me takes place in an isolated country town during the frigid winter months. The story centers on a young family as they cope with a series of disturbing events that force them to question their relationship, their faith and their very existence. When husband and wife, Ryan and Jessica, move into their first home together, strange things begin to occur. Half-eaten animals and other remains are found inside the basement’s crawl space. Their family dog disappears within the house. Distant voices are heard from beneath the floorboards. The couple begins to think that an evil entity is living inside their walls. Nothing can prepare them for what they’ll discover, but Ryan and Jessica soon realize that they must set aside all they believe to be true, in order to face their inevitable reality.
