Unboxing: Team of Prototyping Scarlet Spider Model

For the bootleg fans out there, we recently picked up a Team of Prototyping Scarlet Spider statue. It shipped from China in roughly 2 1/2 weeks. It arrived in a plastic shipping bag and the box was surrounded in a cushioned bubble wrap. Unfortunately, the box still came in a little crushed. That being said, it wasn't that big of a deal.

Opening up the box, there is a large flap with a picture of the Scarlet Spider figure. Once you open the flap, you'll see the figure and stand in pieces. The pieces are PVC and they're colorful and well-sculpted. The hoodie is made out of cloth, which looks like it's of decent quality. The pieces were a little difficult to attach; it took a bit of work to get them all together. Once they were together, this thing looked awesome!

The stand comes in three pieces. The first piece is the base, which has a picture of a spider and "Spider-Man," printed on it. Unfortunately, the one we received was a bit rubbed off (not a deal breaker, but kind of disappointed). The second piece is a long part that attaches to the base. In my opinion, it's just a tad too long for a figure posed in the air. It doesn't cause any balance issues, fortunately. The third piece attaches to the longer piece and then attaches to the bottom of the figure to hold it up. This piece was a bit of a pain to put in and it doesn't quite fit all the way in.

Overall, for the price, which was just under $30.00, this figure is a steal. It looks awesome (the detailing in the eyes is great) and is a lot more justifiable of a purchase than the latest Marvel Legends figures. The prices on Legends have gone up way too drastically. And it's a crap shoot over whether you'll actually get the figure you purchased since they went with windowless packaging. The amount of figure swapping that has been happening is ridiculous. I'd much rather take a chance on a bigger, possibly better looking bootleg for the same price. This one was definitely worth taking a chance over. 8/10 Would buy again.

Star Wars/Wes Anderson-inspired Trailer- "The Galactic Menagerie"

Caleb Ward, of the production company Curious Refugee used the AI image generator Midjourney and ChatGPT to mash up the quirky filmmaker and infamous space franchise to come up with this intriguing trailer. Though the use of AI has brought into question its use in regards to IP/actors and also copyright laws, it is no doubt still an enjoyable "what-if.'
