The Wyld Stallyns Rise Again in a Most Excellent Comic Book Series Premiering June 2017

BOOM! Studios is most excited to announce that everyone’s favorite time-traveling duo from San Dimas are back in BILL & TED SAVE THE UNIVERSE, a new, far-out series launching in June. The excellent team behind Bill & Ted Go To Hell is back, too, and this time it’s intergalactic!

Writer Brian Joines (Imagine Agents, Secret Identities) and artist Bachan (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, JLA Showcase 80-Page Giant) are reunited to continue Bill & Ted’s adventure. Derek Charm (Jughead) will provide covers. Strange things are afoot in the cosmos, and the Wyld Stallyns are pulled into an intergalactic conflict between a group of fans looking to spread the word of their music and a rigid alien law-enforcement officer who thinks their music does more harm than good.

“In ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,’ the duo was tasked with creating a song to save the universe. While they never got around to that, fast forward a couple centuries, and their music is now something galaxies fight over. In Bill & Ted Save the Universe, Bill & Ted's music is supposed to bring peace to the cosmos, but peace doesn't just happen overnight—there's always resistance to anything that rattles the status quo,” says Joines, who helped guide Bill & Ted through the underworld in 2016’s Bill & Ted Go to Hell. “It's such a broad, fun, goofy tale that as long as you maintain those levels, there's really nothing that's off the table in terms of where you take the story and the characters. They've already time-traveled and visited the afterlife—why NOT send them on some big intergalactic adventure next?”

Bill & Ted aren’t the only ones who will be continuing an excellent journey together with this new story. This will be Joines and Bachan’s fourth project together at BOOM! Studios. The pair first worked together on BOOM!’s Imagine Agents back in 2013, which has subsequently been optioned as a feature film by 20th Century Fox with Michael Keaton attached to star and produce the film. Joines and Bachan have previously adventured through the Bill & Ted universe with a short in Bill & Ted’s Most Triumphant Return and on the Bill & Ted Go to Hell series, which was one of Barnes & Noble’s top graphic novel picks of March 2017.

“I'm excited to be paired with [Bachan] again and to see what he does! He did such a great job with the characters for Bill & Ted Go to Hell and now he gets to combine that with the same ‘freak-flag’ design style he used for Imagine Agents, only now with alien races,” says Joines.

“Bill & Ted is one of the most fun, inventive, and lovable franchises out there,” says Alex Galer, Associate Editor. “Having Brian Joines and Bachan reunite on another Bill & Ted adventure is most triumphant! Bill & Ted Go to Hell was an absolute blast, and we have some incredible surprises in store for fans as we take them on a journey to save the universe.”

Bill & Ted Save the Universe is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to a world-class group of licensed comic book series, including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, WWE, Sons of Anarchy, Kong of Skull Island, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from New York, and Planet of the Apes.

Portlandia, MST3K, Harmontown & Stan Against Evil Among First Wave Of Panels for ID10T Music Festival + Comic Conival

ID10T Music Festival & Comic Conival, the groundbreaking first of its kind event that will combine chart-topping musicians, renowned comedians, makers, and some of the most influential people in the entertainment industry, together in one place for a once-in-a-lifetime weekend experience, has announced its first wave of panels, which include famed shows Portlandia, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Harmontown, and Stan Against Evil. A second announcement will be released soon, revealing even more exciting panels and guests. Created and hosted by Chris Hardwick, ID10T (pronounced I-D-ten-T) will take over the Shoreline Amphitheatre and surrounding grounds in Mountain View, CA on Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th.

Confirmed show panels and guests are as follows:

Portlandia, featuring guests Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, moderated by Chris Hardwick.

IFC’s Emmy-nominated comedy Portlandia is currently in production for its eighth and final season. Created by Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and Jonathan Krisel, Portlandia explores the eccentric misfits who embody the foibles of modern culture, starring Armisen and Brownstein. The series is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Broadway Video.

Mystery Science Theater 3000, featuring guests Jonah Ray, Hampton Yount, and Rebecca Hanson, moderated by Wil Wheaton.

For almost 30 years, the award-winning comedy television series Mystery Science Theater 3000, created by Joel Hodgson, has been known as one of the best cult TV shows of all time. Following its record-breaking #BringBackMST3K Kickstarter campaign, fourteen brand-new episodes of the cult television show Mystery Science Theater 3000 launched on April 14, 2017, exclusively on Netflix. In the new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (aka MST3K) Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day) and her loyal henchman, Max (Patton Oswalt), have revived the infamous experiment started by Kinga’s father twenty-nine years earlier: How many cheesy movies does it take to drive a person mad? In this latest reiteration of the show, her test subject is Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray), a space pilot for Gizmonic Institute who gets trapped responding to a distress call from the dark side of the moon. Confined aboard the Satellite of Love, Jonah lives with his robot friends, Gypsy (voiced by Rebecca Hanson), Tom Servo (voiced by Baron Vaughn), and Crow T. Robot (voiced by Hampton Yount). Confronted with Kinga’s choices in torturous films, Jonah and the bots band together to ward off lunacy by continuously riffing on the movies in rapid-fire succession.

Harmontown, featuring guests Dan Harmon, Jeff B. Davis, and Spencer Crittenden.

Dan Harmon (Community, Rick & Morty) alongside “comptroller” Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway), and game master Spencer Crittenden (HarmonQuest) will bring his wildly popular podcast “Harmontown” to the festival - LIVE. Expect ineffectual rants, raps, shameful stories and special guests. Dan Harmon is the Emmy® winning creator/executive producer of the comedy series Community as well as the co-creator/executive producer of Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty.

Stan Against Evil, featuring guests John C McGinley, Janet Varney, and Dana Gould.

IFC’s original horror comedy series Stan Against Evil is currently in production for its second season. Created, written and executive produced by Dana Gould (The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation), Stan Against Evil stars John C. McGinley (Scrubs) and Janet Varney (You’re the Worst). Stan Against Evil follows Stan Miller (McGinley), a perpetually disgruntled former sheriff of a small New England town who was forced into retirement. Stan has trouble relinquishing his authority to Evie Barret (Varney), the tough and beautiful new sheriff in town, but they form an unlikely alliance when both begin to realize things are not quite right in their quaint New England town. Together, they valiantly fight a plague of unleashed demons that have been haunting the town, which just happens to be built on the site of a massive 17th century witch burning.

Information on tickets, pricing, VIP packages, and more is available at www.ID10TFest.com. ID10T boasts a massive festival area directly adjacent to the amphitheatre’s music stage.  All tickets including festival general admission, reserved seating and VIP have free roaming access to the festival area, which includes the Mad Decent Dance/Cosplay Tent, Monster Energy Comedy Tent, and full exhibitor village. Kids 10 and under are free with accompanying paid adult admission.

Each day, pop culture enthusiasts will have the opportunity to roam exhibitor booths, meet comic book artists, and catch their favorite TV and movie casts on back-to-back panels and podcasts, including a special live taping of Hardwick’s own Nerdist Podcast. In the evening, the grounds will transition into a music and comedy hall for live performances from some of today’s top artists and comedians. With panels from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., comedy from 4:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m., and music from 4:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m., attendees can expect a full day packed with entertainment, all in an outdoor setting.

The festival will also host a juried cosplay contest. Details on entry, prizes, and more will be announced soon, but interested participants can click here for a taste of what to expect: https://www.facebook.com/id10tfest/videos/1263934146994137/

Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con and Convention Tips for Newbies

Con season is officially in full swing and coming up on June 23-25 2017 is Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con at the Las Vegas Convention Center! The guest list is brimming with creators and celebrities and is looking to be one of the seasons biggies. For those attending any convention that means saving all your pennies for all of those must-have collectibles, putting the finishing touches on your costumes, and planning, planning, planning. If you're flying in from out of town be sure to check out these Las Vegas vacation deals.

Being fully prepared is nothing new for those who have been navigating their way through convention halls for years. But for every seasoned pro, there are a ton of fans that are attending a convention for the very first time. Below is a list of tips for the newbie that wants to go in prepared and ready to get the most out of their first con.

- Bring along plenty of snacks and water! If you plan on being there all day, at some point you'll break for lunch and/or dinner, but in between you may be standing in long lines waiting for that photo-op/autograph or panel. You don't want to find yourself without something to munch on if your stomach starts growling and you definitely want to keep hydrated when running from panel to panel. We love to carry beef jerky, trail mix, candy, and water for a quick pick-me-up!

- Carry a comfortable bag/backpack. If you plan on purchasing anything during the convention you'll definitely want something to carry it all in. I don't know how many times I've told myself I wasn't going to buy too many souvenirs but ended up with a statue, some comics, and a figure or two. Luckily, I always bring a backpack and a reusable tote just in case.

- Make a little bag with safety pins, tape, make-up, and a marker. If you're attending in costume, you may find these to be a lifesaver. If your costume is homemade, sometimes a prop needs fixing, costumes rip, or your make-up needs a touch-up. Having a little emergency kit at the ready is always just good planning.

- Budget, budget, budget. Make sure you have a clear idea of how much you have to spend. There are a lot of vendors and artists with tons of cool stuff and you'll want to take it all home. It's easy to spend all of your cash right away and see something else you'd rather have later on in the day. I like to walk all of the vendor booths first and then work my way through a second time and purchase only those things that I really want.

- Wear comfortable clothes! If you're not attending in costume then I highly suggest comfort above all else. You may sometimes be in cramped quarters and constantly moving through large crowds. It can sometimes be a little stifling and you'll want to stay cool and comfortable as much as possible. Shorts/lightweight pants, a t-shirt, hat and extremely comfy shoes are always part of my wardrobe at any con if I'm not in costume. I'll also throw a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt in my bag if I'm planning on staying all day.

- Designate a meeting spot. If you're attending with a group make sure to have an easy to find place to meet up if you get separated. Some convention centers have bad reception, so you can't always rely on cell phones to keep in touch. Having a designated meeting place puts everyone on the same page and makes things that much safer for your group.

- Make sure you have a plan! Timing is everything when attending a convention. You'll want to map out all of the panels you want to attend and make sure you have enough time for any photos/autographs you want to obtain. You don't want to miss out on something because you got overwhelmed by not setting aside enough time to do everything that you wanted.

Unboxing April's Loot Crate: Investigate

Loot Crate's theme for the month of April, "Investigate", brings together some of our most celebrated sleuths. Items from The X-Files, Stranger Things, Jessica Jones, and Batman could all be uncovered in the latest crate. Overall, the latest box was pretty awesome, but I think they missed an opportunity by excluding the greatest detective of all time- Sherlock Holmes. Anything from the character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have been an awesome addition to the box.

The first item inside is a Batman color-changing mug. Fill the mug with any hot beverage to reveal the bat signal, shining over Gotham City. I didn't necessarily need another mug, but this one is pretty darn cool.

Next up were the monthly T-shirt and pin. The shirt is an homage to the cover of Uncanny X-Men #134. It features characters from Netflix's Stranger Things taking the place of Marvel's mutants on this exclusive tee. The pin, a mini-tape recorder, also comes with digital downloads of two X-Files and two Metropolis comics!

The final items come from X-Files and Marvel's Jessica Jones. Looter's received an exclusive set of four X-Files pencils and a sharpener. The last item, from Jessica Jones, is hands down the best item in the box. The Exclusive Jessica Jones figure joins the growing line of previous Q-Figs from past crates which included Batman and Deadpool amongst others.

In April's crate:

-Stranger Things T-shirt (Netflix, Loot Crate)
-Batman Color-Changing Mug (DC Comics, Zak! Designs)
-Mini-Tape Recorder Pin (Loot Crate)
-X-Files Digital Comics (Comixology, IDW)
-Metropolis (Comixology, Delcourt)
-X-Files Pencil and Sharpener Set (20th Century Fox, A Crowded Coop)
-Jessica Jones Q-Fig (Marvel, QMx)

In addition, The Wayne Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading awareness of CSEC occurring in the United States, providing direct services to young women victimized by commercial exploitation and founded by Kevin Smith, is making its debut as a charity of choice here at Humble Bundle.

Pay $1 or more. All together, these comics would cost over $151. Here at Humble Bundle, though, you name your price of $1 or more and increase your contribution to upgrade your bundle!

Read them anywhere. These comics are available in multiple formats including CBZ, PDF, and ePub, so they work on your computer, e-readers, iPads, cell phones, and a wide array of mobile devices!

Support charity. Choose where the money goes – between the publisher, Dynamite Entertainment; The Wayne Foundation; and, if you'd like, a charity of your choice via the PayPal Giving Fund.
