Sci Fi Epic ORIGINS Debuts as New Limited Series in November 2020

BOOM! Studios announced the launch of science fiction epic, ORIGINS, as a new comic book series. The limited series by creators Arash Amel (A Private War), Joseph Oxford (Me + Her), and Lee Toland Krieger (The Age of Adaline), acclaimed writer Clay McLeod Chapman (Absolute Carnage: Separation Anxiety), illustrator Jakub Rebelka (Judas), colorist Patricio Delpeche (Strange Skies Over East Berlin), and letterer Jim Campbell (Alienated) and producer Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Midnight Special, Outside the Wire), presents a stunning view of a future where humanity’s last hope may be the person who brought about its destruction, available in November 2020.

One thousand years after humans have gone extinct and artificial intelligence has taken over the world, a single man is brought back to life—David Adams, the genius whose technology was responsible for the destruction of his species, and who has been given a second chance at life in order to save mankind and undo his biggest mistake.

But even with the help of Chloe, his first creation and the android that revived him, he may not be enough to reignite the spark of humanity or stop the AI overlords who plan to eliminate the last hope for mankind. David and Chloe must embark on the greatest journey of their lives, as he seeks to find redemption and discover if humanity can - or should - have any kind of future.

“ORIGINS has everything a sci-fi fan could want - a distant future run by AI run amok but also a beautiful dystopian world where the line separating life from death is tenuous at best. It’s a fight for survival, and it’ll keep you guessing who’ll win until the very end.” said Dafna Pleban, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios. “This is an epic story that we couldn’t wait to get in the hands of sci-fi fans and readers everywhere so we’re very excited to be launching the series in November with a first issue you won’t want to miss.”

ORIGINS is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including Once & Future by Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera; The Red Mother by Jeremy Haun and Danny Luckert; Alienated by Simon Spurrier and Chris Wildgoose; King of Nowhere by W. The First Ever FIREFLY Comic Book Event Begins in September 2020!

BOOM! Studios, in collaboration with 20th Century Studios today announced FIREFLY: BLUE SUN RISING #0, a special issue kicking off the first ever Firefly event from New York Times best-selling writer Greg Pak (Darth Vader, Ronin Island) and artist Dan McDaid (Firefly), along with series creator & story consultant Joss Whedon (the visionary writer/director behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Marvel’s The Avengers and more), as Mal and the crew take on the shadowy organization that’s haunted their steps all along—Blue Sun Corporation.

Sheriff Mal Reynolds has a new partner—a law-enforcing robot from the Blue Sun corporation, who doesn't care about motives, mercy, or anything other than enforcing the law—no matter the cost.  The Blue Sun Corporation has helped to run the ‘Verse from the shadows for years, but they’re ready to step into the light and take over.

If Mal wants to keep his job and protect his sector, he probably should play by their rulebook. That leaves only one choice for Mal —reunite the crew of the Serenity for one last impossible job to save the ‘Verse.

FIREFLY: BLUE SUN RISING #0 features a main cover by acclaimed illustrator Nimit Malavia (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), along with variant covers from artists Christian Ward (Invisible Kingdom), Caitlin Yarsky (Coyotes), and more.

Fans can also discover a special prelude in FIREFLY #20, setting up the event that kicks off in FIREFLY: BLUE SUN RISING #0, both available in September 2020. Fans can follow the event in issues #21-24 of the FIREFLY main series by Pak and McDaid and the conclusion in FIREFLY BLUE SUN RISING #1.

Created by Whedon and set 500 years in the future in the wake of a universal civil war, Firefly centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship that doesn't have a planet to call home. Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds, a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the totalitarian governed Alliance, will undertake any job — legal or not — to stay afloat and keep his crew fed. Thrust together by necessity but staying together out of loyalty, these disparate men and women are seeking adventure and the good life, but face constant challenges on the new frontier, such as avoiding capture by the Alliance, and evading the dangers you find on the fringes of the universe.

FIREFLY: BLUE SUN RISING #0  is available in September 2020 exclusively in comic shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.

FIREFLY is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including Once & Future by Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora; Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; Abbott by Saladin Ahmed and Sami Kivelä; Bury the Lede by Gaby Dunn and Claire Roe; Klaus by Grant Morrison and Dan Mora; Folklords by Matt Kindt and Matt Smith; The Red Mother by Jeremy Haun and Danny Luckert; Alienated by Simon Spurrier and Chris Wildgoose; and King of Nowhere by W.
