Marvel and DC Releasing New Animated Films


Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher. In this action-packed animated film, two of Marvel's most popular characters, Black Widow (voiced by Jennifer Carpenter) and the Punisher (voiced by Brian Bloom) team up alongside Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and the rest of the Avengers. The release will be available for purchase on March 25th. 

Official synopsis: After interfering with a top secret mission, THE PUNISHER is taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. AGENT and AVENGER, BLACK WIDOW. At the orders of Director Nick Fury, Punisher and Black Widow are sent on a mission to stop LEVIATHAN, a global terrorist organization that plans to sell stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. technology to the highest bidder. Now, the vigilante and spy must work together to prevent this technology from falling into the wrong hands. The fate of the world, and of the AVENGERS, hangs in the balance.

Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher was directed by Kenichi Shimizu, with a story by Marjorie Liu and screenplay by Mitsutaka Hirota. It was produced by Marvel, Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan) Inc. and Madhouse Inc.



Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of the next DC Universe original animated movie, Son of Batman, which features the voice talents of Jason O'Mara, Stuart Allan, Morena Baccarin, Giancarlo Esposito, David McCallum, Xander Berkeley and Thomas Gibson. The film is based on Grant Morrison's "Batman & Son" arc, and is set to arrive on Blu-ray on May 6th.

Official Synopsis: Batman (O'Mara) is shocked to learn that not only does he have a son (Allan), but that the boy's mother is Talia (Baccarin), the daughter of the international overlord Ra's Al Ghul (Esposito). Nevertheless, the Dark Knight and his willful boy -- as the new Robin -- become uneasy allies when Talia enlists a team of ninja man-bats on a criminal enterprise with international consequences.
