Unboxing Funko's First Star Wars: Smuggler's Bounty Subscription Box

With the success of their Marvel Collector Corps subscription box, Funko announced plans for similar boxes for Star Wars and DC Comics during Funko Fun Days at SDCC. The first one to get off the ground is the Star Wars "Smuggler's Bounty" box. Star Wars and Funko made this a no-brainer for me; at roughly $31.00 (shipping and taxes included) you get several 100% exclusive Funko items (including at least one Funko POP! figure) in every box. Like the MCC boxes, each one will be centered around a theme.

The theme for the Smuggler's Bounty debut box was "The First Order." With the film about two weeks away, the tie-in was a given. The box is similar to the Collector Corps', with the design on the outside relating to the theme. Once you open it, the similarities continue. The first thing you see is a collector's pin and patch, then you get to dig into the good stuff. The debut box gave fans two exclusive POP! figures; a chromed out Captain Phasma and a TIE Fighter Pilot. There were two versions of the TIE Fighter Pilot, a regular and a variant version with red stripes (I was lucky enough to get the variant version). Also included were a lanyard and a First Order Stormtrooper POP! T-Shirt (one of four different shirts available). Overall, this was a pretty stellar debut for Smuggler's Bounty and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.
